Choosing a well made platform bed can save you some money over time. Over the course of time mattresses and box springs often break down and need to be replaced every few years. One should keep in mind however, that many platform beds are somewhat closer to the floor than beds that do have box springs which may pose problems for people who have knee or back problems and have difficulty rising from low sitting positions. In instances where this may well be the case, look for those beds that have a little more height or order one custom made. You can even make one of these beds yourself with a little woodworking knowledge and a few simple directions.
Solid frame platform beds or those with storage draws have a few additional advantages over traditional beds. Not only can you have additional storage space which most households need, but, solid bases make it easier to sweep or vacuum the room as there is no bending needed to clean under the center of the bed.
